Kofuko, Bandra: 3.5/5

Very few restaurants in Mumbai offer authentic Japanese food and Kofuku is one of them!

I visited this place with my family and we picked the Japanese style table to sit instead of the regular seating. The ambiance is simple with one stretch of the restaurant having Japanese style seating and curtains depicting the theme boldly. Very interesting I must say. The other part of the restaurant has minimal “Japanese” theme.

Started with edamme which is steamed n salted soya – yes it tasted nice but Rs 590 for a small bowl of soya seemed highly over priced. I’m not ordering this dish again – there has to be a logic in pricing too!

We then started with the famous sushi and ordered Veg Maki – California roll. Very very tasty and delicious indeed! Now that’s value for money!! Sake salmon and nigiri salmon were great too and presentation was even better. Vegetable roll was pretty awesome too. Veg dashi tofu was, however, quite okayish.

For main course we ordered Om Rice – a must recommended preparation where they served rice wrapped around an omelette!! Have never seen an interesting way to service rice with egg!! For vegetarian we had chef’s special curry which was very ordinary.

Overall it was an awesome experience for sushi – veg and non veg both – but other dishes, except for Om Rice, were pretty ordinary.

Considering their price list, I rather prefer Pa Pa Ya where everything is awesome and not just Sushi! Go for Kofuku if u want a relaxed evening of Sushi đŸ™‚
