The Boston Cupcakery, Andheri: 5/5

The Boston Cupcakery Menu, Reviews, Photos, Location and Info - Zomato

One of the few places where the saying holds true: “Pet bhar gaya but Dil nahi bhara”  or even.. “yeh Dil maange more’.

Ideology:
Boston Cupcakery came about as famous chef Erik Lars Larsen’s parting gift to Mumbai, post his 6 month long visit to the city of dreams. It took him 6 months to come up with a variety of recipes of cupcakes and that too, and let me emphasize, EGGLESS. We also met one of the partners – Yash – and we could witness his passion when he explained how they want to bring international standard’s bakery products to Mumbai. Pure love, focus on quality!

Ambience: Well, this is mainly for takeaway purpose so seating is limited. For those who prefer to eat in, like us, there’s comfortable seating for 5-6 inside as well as outside. The small patisserie has very elegant décor and very soon they will put up product information. This will definitely educate people what to expect from cupcakes and more.

Product: presently they have a limited offering of Cupcakes at Rs 100, Cupcake Shake at Rs 160 and cupcake icecream at Rs 200, apart from coffees n Green Teas. Their cupcakes are freshly baked and thus very soft and fluffy. Thankfully they use all natural ingredients and no additives or preservatives. Even the chocolate used is cuveco chocolate and not the synthesized chocolate. Their cupcakes options keep changing everyday with 9 choices every week. I was initially disappointed to see a limited spread but to my excitement I was informed that they are expanding – and not just by 3 more outlets but also in terms of product line. Once their technical improvisation is complete, they will come out with macaroons, cakes and hopefully a lot more..!!

We tried the chocolate plum cake made with raisins soaked in rum and central blueberry filling – Amazing!! My personal favorite and sooo recommended. Another option in this is with the nutella filling – equally delicious. We also tried the Nutella Cupcake. The frosting of their cupcakes are just perfect – it doesn’t melt even though they don’t use the veg hydrogenation or Dalda. The sugar is just the right taste and not more or less and there is no sugar crystallization thus making the texture very smooth. With each bite, you feel heavenly and keep wanting for more. KitKat cupcake, ferrero rocher – all were yum!!

The cupcake shakes of various flavors tasted almost similar as the base is similar. The shake is as good as one big calorie loaded meal. You cannot finish the entire thing by yourself if you have already had few cupcakes. It’s sumptuous. The icecream cupcake is a great concept- a tempting red velvet cupcakes seated on a bed of butterscotch icecream served with chocolate balls and chocolate straw wafer to complete the picture. You can choose your option of icecream and Cupcake and make your own dessert. Sinful!!!!

Hospitality: Even though you don’t expect any in a takeaway or home delivery model, the staff is very courteous and the owner Yash is very friendly.

Value for money: The size of the cupcakes are actually as per international standards but priced to Indian pockets. Totally worth it I would say as you don’t mind paying for a heavenly experience!!

All in all – I’m definitely visiting again. This is one place which every dessert lover should visit!!
