Loco Chino has around 5 outlets in Mumbai and we visited their Oshiwara outlet very recently.
The place is located opposite to the popular Mexican Joint Sammy Sosa on the busy Link Road. It is a small outlet which has colorful and cheerful interiors. Yellow is the central theme with yellow colored menu cards and table tops. It is a small Chinese-Mexican outlet with simple and clean interiors.
Food n Drinks:
In beverages we tried their mocktails, as the place doesn’t serve alcohol. We tried Sassy Senorita which had base of soda and made of passion fruit juices such as orange juice. The drink was moderately sweet and bubbly that made it very refreshing. The second drink was Mexican Twist made of cranberry and soda which I found tad bit too sweet.
We had a lot of appetizers starting with dry chilli chicken – this was saute chicken pan fried in the flavor of dry red chili and onions. Since it wasn’t deep fried it was not very oily. There was also a crispiness in the taste and was medium spicy too.
Next was Grilled lemon grass fish. This was basa fish that was marinated overnight in lemon grass sauce, then grilled with lemon grass sauce. Fish was very tender and juicy to taste and the marination was very well done. Highly recommended!
We also tried a variety of dimsums such as smokey dimsum which was hit and spicy in taste, roasted dimsum that had chicken stuffed with almond and soya chili with garlic and Lemon grass sauce. Good to taste but lacked the wow factor.
I must recommended their chicken nachos with sour cream. Tender and juicy chicken pieces laid over nachos tasted great with sour cream.
For main course we made our own Wok Box. We picked a combination of egg noodles as base with 3 veggies – carrots, bell peppers and onions. We picked the meat as chicken which were small chunks – tender and juicy. The chili basil sauce was medium spicy and tasted amazing. This was garnished with spring onions, burnt garlic and fried onions. An amazing combo that was served hot and tasted great!!
Finally my favorite – Nutella Mousse in Desserts. The mousse was smooth but a tad thicker. The taste, however, was pretty yummy and not too sweet or bitter.
The staff here is very courteous. The manager Laxman was polite, friendly and knowledgeable. He recommended some of the house specials too.
Overall had a lovely experience. A simple place, a great evening. Will definitely visit again or place orders for home deliveries.
