Anncensored is another addition to the category of restaurants that pride upon hospitality, ambience and great food!
The restaurant is located in Kamala Mills, Lower Parel – an area where you are spoilt for choice with regards to restaurants. The seating area is quite interesting with swings for seats at one section of the restaurant. A creative concept but gets a bit uncomfortable after some time if you don’t enjog swinging seats. The other side also had circular enclosure style seating style which look quite comfy and private. In the middle there was a long table for seating as well. The overall feel of the restaurant was pretty upbeat – with even a large cut out of Instagram Window where you could click photos, like a photo booth!
We ordered couple of cocktails starting with Pulserate, a vodka based cocktail made with fresh mangoes, ginger and sour mix. One could taste the zing of kaccha aam giving a citrusy taste alongwith the ginger kick. Totally recommended!!
Next was Captain Sparrow: Once again, vodka based cocktail but this time the presentation was wow! A skull faced glass, adding the pirates touch, with coconut on the side. The nitrogen ice made the drink very smokey – giving it that spooky touch as well. The cocktail mix was made of pineapple juice and coconut cream blended with vodka – truly refreshing and quite strong. Do try!
We started with chicken sorba made with minced pieces of chicken and Indian spices such as Garlic, pepper, etc giving it an aromatic flavor and taste. This is served with a tiny kulcha on the side. We also tried Roast chicken soup prepared with mixed vegetables and barley and served with Garlic bread on the side. This tasted just okay.
The Butter Chicken Croquettes: Yummy delicious butter chicken was stuffed in bread crumbs and then deep fried to golden brown color such that the exterior became very crispy and crunchy. Every bite would mean going through the crunchy exterior into a soft delicious butter chicken. This was oozying out and was perfect in taste. However, the exterior made used tad bit too much of batter and one could taste that. Suggest the exterior is made thinner.
Chilly Fish gujon Bao: Oh My God – This was just wow!! I can go back again n again to this place only for these Baos!! The steamy Baos had the stuffing of chilly fish between them such that every bite had the tender soft Baos with spicy and rightly names chilly fish. The fish was very well cooked making it melt in the mouth soft!! Highly Recommended!!!
Double Cooked Delhi Style Chicken: This is without doubt their signature dish! The chicken was cooked in Delhi Style with lot of tomatoes making it a tangy yummy gravy. My thumbs up to this wonderful dish with tender chicken soaked with the gravy and spices making it delicious.
Berry Pulao with Lamb shank: Well, full credits to the chef for cooking the lamb perfectly well ensuring the meat becomes tender and juicy with the amazing gravy. The rice accompaniment it came along with was perfect combination with the gravy.
Desserts: Well, we had the chocolate fondant cake. Although it wasn’t baked very well as the exterior was a bit chewy but the oozing hot chocolate made up for it.
Overall a great experience, interesting ambience, good food and a great place to hang out with your friends!
